3. Library and Media
Services
Western's three-floor Hamersly Library is the place on campus for studying and obtaining books needed for classes. Throughout the building students will find desks, couches and comfortable chairs, providing students with a quiet atmosphere.
There are many public computers in the library open to students. Students can log in to the desktops or check out laptops that are provided free of charge.
For students who will be required to research scholarly journals for classes, the library provides access to numerous journals that cover nearly every subject online. These journals can be viewed through the library's website.
If students are lucky enough, they can find the books they need for class, saving them a trip to the bookstore. If students do not find the books they need on campus, Hamersly also offers interlibrary loan, where students can request books from other northwest colleges. Through interlibrary loan the book(s) will usually arrive in two to three days and can be held for three to six weeks.
4. Instructional
Technology Center
The Instructional Technology Center provides students with access to various types of technologies. ITC has computer labs located throughout campus that are available to all students. These computer labs have Apple computers and PCs while several labs have different types of software that students can use for class and for work.
5. The Learning
Center
The Learning Center provides students with free tutoring in numerous subjects. Tutoring assistance is offered in most academic subjects by peer tutors who have been recommended by faculty. The tutor's goal is to help students improve their knowledge and develop better study habits. Students must be currently enrolled in the subject for which they request tutoring.
