Welcome back everyone: I hope that you had a great winter break, and I hope that you are-at least, somewhat-excited to be back at Western. I want to take this time to inform you of a couple of important weekend events that you will have an opportunity to be involved in. First off, Feb. 2-4, there will be the annual Oregon Student of Color Coalition Conference held here at Western. It is a great conference with 2000 Vice Presidential candidate Winona LaDuke speaking on Saturday. For more information go to www.orstudents.org/oscc/ or contact me at 503-838-8555, or at aspresident@wou.edu. The second opportunity that you will have is Feb. 23-25: ASWOU will be hosting our annual leadership retreat. There are 100 spots open for students at Western, and it is on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can register for the event on the newly renovated ASWOU.org, or in our offices (across from the bookstore). The ASWOU leadership retreat will be held once again at Camp Magruder, which is located on Rockaway Beach: registration is free and transportation will be provided. If you don't know about it, ask around, pay attention to the floods of advertising coming, or contact Trevor Setvin at 503-838-8557 or asvp@wou.edu.
