Praxis Club to host guest speaker Barbara Dudley
- Page 1 of 1
Dear Editor,
The Western Oregon Praxis Club will be hosting a guest speaker on May 24, 2006 from 7-9 pm in the ITC Auditorium (211). The speaker will be Barbara Dudley, who is on the organizing committee of the Working Families Party of Oregon (WFP). The WFP is a new, progressive party committed to economic issues of its members (job security, family wages, affordable health care, fair trade instead of free trade, sustainable economy, etc.).
The Party is committed to making corporations responsible and accountable to all stake holders. The WFP uses a strategy of fusion voting which allows multiple parties to endorse and support progressive candidates. Come and hear Barbara on an alternative to always voting "the lesser of two evils."
The Praxis Club is committed to economic and social justice. We recognize that theory is a form of practice, and that ideas are a form of power. But we cannot let it end there.
Theory provides insight and understanding that is necessary for effective action. Please come join the Praxis Club and the Sociology Department for an exciting speaker. There will be open discussion after the talk and refreshments will be provided (fresh, multi-fruit juices).
