As a lefty, Blake Keitzman knew that pitcher was the right position for him to play, and he knew very early in his career that he was good at it. And he kept getting better, using his summers to play on club teams to hone his skills. Keitzman's talent and hard work showed during his monster season last year, his first at Western.

IFC to entertain open hearing meetings to determine student fees for 2010-2011

Since the beginning of January, a group of 20 plus people has gathered each Thursday night in the Oregon Room of the Werner University Center for an annual meeting process, known most commonly by three capital letters: IFC. Meetings, which begin at 7 p.m.

Visiting the first walk-in coffee shop owned by Brooks and Terry's Espresso, one is immediately hit by the comforting smell of coffee and chocolate and a welcoming barista who is happy to whip up the drink of your dreams. When owners Lesli and Terry Cable first came to Polk County in the early 1990s, they were surprised by the absence of drive-thru coffee providers.

Although Western's campus appeared fairly silent on the outside last Friday evening, the night epitomized the old saying that looks can be deceiving. While some students were making the drive home for the weekend, curled up on the living room couch with popcorn and a movie in hand, or aimlessly wandering the campus in search of adventure, the Columbia room of the WUC was rocking to the beat of the brand new weekend program known as Battle of the RockBands.

As human beings, we are constantly wrestling with the concept of relationships; we fight to maintain familiar relationships, while trying to appease friends and juggle significant others and exes at the same time. Western's Theater Department deals with these concerns in a very honest and realistic way in its winter studio show entitled Rabbit, which presents its first show tonight, Feb.
