Oregon State University will be adding to a 90-year history this weekend with the performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's comic production "The Mikado."

"The Mikado" opens Thursday, August 14, at 7:30 p.m. and will run through Saturday, Aug. 16, with a matinée showing on Sunday Aug.

With energy rampantly running through spectators at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ducks baseball stadium, University President Dave Frohnmayer announced the official title of the park. Named in honor of athletic director Pat Kilkenny, P.K. Park will seat an estimated 5,000 fans and help bring back a sport that has been absent from the school since leaving in a cost cutting effort following the 1981 season.

University gets go-ahead for alley vacation

The Eugene City Council approved the vacation of an alley way and another small area of land near the site of the University's proposed new arena. The approval means the University can now buy these two properties from the city, which brings the University one step closer to constructing the $200 million arena that will be located at East 13th Ave

The controversial Pacifica Forum held an open discussion of its own significance to the community Friday afternoon that drew heated debate between its members and detractors.

The Pacifica Forum, according to its mission statement, is a program of oral information, discussion, and points of view focusing on war and peace, militarism and pacifism and violence and nonviolence.

Successful alum couple shows gratitude to OSU

After many successful years in the business world, OSU alumni Judith Atwood Youde and Jim Youde will be donating $1.4 million to the university.

The donation will be part of The Campaign for OSU, a fundraising plan that hopes to raise $625 million.

"Jim and Judith are tremendous examples of successful alumni who have a deep commitment to helping the next generation of OSU students," said President Ed Ray in the media release.
